If you are contemplating buying a toy poodle for a pet, you couldn't ask for a better companion. Toy poodles are very smart, loving and they fit into your home and life easily.
You want to make sure that the toy poodle puppy you buy hasn't certain hereditary diseases that are common to some toy poodle lines that have not been tested. You want the parentage to have been tested for PRCD which is a common blindness that can be passed on. You want the parentage to be Optigen A or B. Optigen A means that the blindness is not in the poodle's lineage and that none of the puppies will get it. Optigen B means the poodle is a carrier of the gene for blindness. Optigen C means they are carriers and will become blind and that they will pass the gene on for blindness. (Lacie-Lou out of Tailor and Rebel)
Don't settle with anything but the best health in your toy poodles, you will save yourself a lot of heartache in the long run because no matter what toy poodle you get you will fall in love with it therefore fall in love with one with the least amount of health problems so that your toy poodle will live longer and give you peace of mind that you did all you could to give your toy poodle the best home possible.
